I’m Rachel Joy Thomas, (prefer going by Joy), a driven journalism student with a passion for storytelling, research, and strategy. I’m actively seeking internships in PR, music management, publicity and marketing as well as part-time roles with small music-focused businesses. With strong writing, research, and development skills, I’m eager to support companies and campaigns that align with my interests.

Current intern with Trend PR, a boutique publicity, branding and digital marketing firm based in Los Angeles, California. In this role, I have secured press coverage for clients, including interviews, features and other editorial opportunities, while supporting the team’s broader publicity and marketing goals.

Freelance reporter for outlets including Motor1, BroBible, and The Mary Sue. Conducted interviews with representatives from major corporations and over 70 additional sources, resulting in more than 100 published articles.
Affiliate Marketing
Currently serving as Affiliate Manager for North & Warren, responsible for generating key data insights to support platforms including Remodelista, Gardenista, and Cool Material.
Music Journalism
Published contributor to Austin’s Music Scene: Your Guide to the City’s Most Iconic Artists & Venues, currently available in select stores. Conducted interviews with more than 40 Austin artists for Euphonic Magazine, Afterglow ATX, and Thunder House Co., including prominent figures such as Gina Chavez and David Ramirez, as well as festival organizers and other key industry players. Authored in-depth pieces on influential artists, including Daniel Johnston and Roky Erickson. Provided editorial support for over 30 interviews featured in the guidebook, in addition to numerous interviews for Euphonic and Afterglow ATX.
Music Management
Completed an internship with Velvet Hammer, a prominent music management company representing artists such as Deftones, System of a Down, and Alice in Chains, gaining hands-on experience in artist management and the music industry.
